Welcome to Year 1’s page where you can find out about all the exciting things that we get up to! Here you will be able to find out general information about the school day and you will also be able to see the exciting things we get up to in our classroom. 

General Information

P.E Kit

Your child’s P.E day is Wednesday(indoor) and Thursday.(outdoor) Please can we ask that all children have an indoor and outdoor P.E kit in school at all times. 

Coats

Please can you ensure your child has a coat in school each day in case of rain. We do encourage the children to use our outdoor learning space and we would hate for them to miss out. Can I also ask that all items of clothes are named so that any lost property can be returned.

Homework

Daily reading

Maths homework will be set on School Jam each week

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday reday to learn for a spelling quiz the following Friday

Reading Books

Please ensure that reading books are brought in on a daily basis with their reading diary. An adult will read with your child once a week and this will be recorded in their diary. 

We will change your child's reading books every Monday. During the holidays we will always send home an extra book to keep them busy!  

Water bottles and snacks

Your child has access to fruit each day which is supplied by the school. However, if you choose to send in a healthy snack that is absolutely fine, just please be reminded that we are a NUT FREE school. The children will eat their snack during their playtime so please ensure it is something suitable.  Please can you also ensure that you bring a water bottle in each day. The children can also refill this throughout the day.

Lunches

As you are aware we have an online booking system for lunches, this must be done from home please.

Library

Our Library day is every Friday. Please ensure that all books are returned ready for the children to change them.

DOJO

This is where we will communicate with you the most. There is an app which is available to download for free and this is the most efficient way to contact us if needed.  We also post pictures of our activities in Year 1 on the class story page.
