OPERATION ENCOMPASS
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.
OUR COMMITMENT TO OPERATION ENCOMPASS:
- Endorse the Encompass Model and support the Key Adults in our school to fulfil the requirements of the Encompass Protocol
- Promote and implement Encompass processes and use these in accordance with internal safeguarding children processes
- Recognise the sensitive nature of the information provided and ensure that this is retained in accordance with the principles of data protection
WHAT DOES OPERATION ENCOMPASS DO?
Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, known as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.
At Moss Hey primary our Key Adults are our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Messham and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Malkin.
PREVENT DUTY
The Prevent strategy is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
- Responds to the ideological challenge we face from terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views
- Provides practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support
- Works with a wide range of sectors (including education, criminal justice, faith, charities, online and health)
At Moss Hey Primary School we are committed to safeguarding children and we fully support the government’s Prevent Strategy. We see protecting our children from the risk of radicalisation as part of our wider safeguarding duties. We acknowledge the Prevent Duty and we have due regard to the need to prevent children and their families from being drawn into any illegal activity, including terrorism.
At Moss Hey Primary we uphold the fundamental principles of the British values. These are promoted through our ethos, school values, learning behaviours, our curriculum, whole school projects, councils and assemblies.
